Helping students develop their statistical reasoning, it is believed that computer learning environments enable students to experience and explore all aspects of statistical process; and gain conceptual understanding of statistics. Within these environments, more concrete statistical concepts can be illustrated by interactive computer demonstration and more interesting learning activities and real life projects can be provided. In this way, students become active learners rather than statistics producers. This needs students to acquire statistical understanding at a higher level rather than a surface level.
In this paper, the author wants to discuss how computer learning environments are able to elaborate on the statistical concepts; to provide practice environment for student leaning; to promote interactive learning; to be available for student-paced learning; and make learning more interesting and meaningful by discovery learning. To accomplish these goals, Seeing Statistics is a web book that can be used as electronic resource for statistics education.
