HERDSA Conference Grants for Postgraduate Students Two grants (one of $500 for a local student, and one of $1000 for a student incurring significant travel costs) were available to assist postgraduate students to attend and participate in the conference (applications closed 7 March 2000)

HERDSA Prize for the Best Paper by a New Researcher A prize of $500 will be awarded to a new researcher or researchers who produce the best conference paper making a significant contribution to research in the field of higher education. ASET Conference Grants for Postgraduate Students Two grants (one of $400 for a local student and one of $800 for a student incurring significant travel costs) are available from ASET to assist full or part time postgraduate students in educational technology or any related area, from any sector of education, to attend the conference. The conditions for the grants and the application procedures are detailed below (applications closed 26 May 2000).

Conditions

  1. Applicants must be enrolled as a full time or part time university student in a research degree or masters by coursework degree in educational technology or a related area.
  2. "Local" means residing in Toowoomba, Brisbane or adjacent localities, whilst "significant travel costs" relates to all other localities.
  3. Applicants need not be a member of any Society but grants will include one year's membership (2000/01) of ASET.
  4. A successful applicant must register for and attend the Conference. Delivery of cheques to the successful applicants will be "in person" at the Conference.
  5. Applications may be made for both HERDSA and ASET Grants but an applicant cannot receive two grants.
  6. The closing date for applications is 26 May 2000.
  7. Applications will be assessed by a subcommittee of ASET which reserves the right to make no grants. The subcommittee may use its discretion when interpreting "local" and "significant travel costs".
Procedures
  1. Submit a written application (maximum length two A4 pages, Word or RTF format) attached to an email to asetnat@cleo.murdoch.edu.au. There is no prescribed form, but your application must include contact details, enrolment details, brief CV details, a description of your research project or projects, a list of publications, a statement on why your application warrants support, and contact details for two academic referees, one of whom must be your supervisor or course adviser.
  2. Applicants must ask their referees to write to asetnat@cleo.murdoch.edu.au in support of their applications (ASET's subcommittee for the grants will not issue requests for referees reports). The closing date for receipt of referees reports is the same as the closing date for applications (26 May).
